Brian Briggs

Sessional Lecturer, Education

Brian Briggs holds a B. Ed specializing in Science Education and a M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction. He lives in Calgary, and this is 43 rd year in education. Prior to becoming a school principal, he taught grades two to nine and later, served as a District Science Teaching and Learning Consultant working with schools and teachers in the development of effective inquiry-based instruction and assessment strategies. In this role, he worked with Alberta Education on curriculum documents and developed support documents for both Nelson and Pearson Publishing. Shortly after retiring for the Calgary Catholic School District, he joined the Maple Bear International Canadian School Faculty, sharing best science practice with teachers primarily in Brazil until 2024. He has been with Faculty of Education, St. Mary’s University in 2011 as an Education Instructor teaching science methodology course and works with Year One and Year Two pre-service teachers as a Practicum Advisor.
